History

Odemis Vocational Highschool in Ege University started to education and training activities in 1994-1995 academic year by taking students for three programmes as “Arboriculture”, Vegetable Production” and “Business Organization and Farm Management”. Then, our school increased the number of progammes to five by opening “Livestock Production” and “Seed Production” in 1995-1996 and 1996-1997 academic years respectively.

In 2003-2004 academic year, “Business Organization and Farm Management" was named as “Agricultural Management”, and then this programme was closedin in 2008-2009 academic year. However, due to a new programmed called as “Organic Agriculture” was opened in the same year, the total number of programmes remained as five programmes. Before starting of 2009-2010 academic year, with the decition of Council of Higher Education (YOK), the name of “Livestock Production” and “Arboriculture” were respectively changed as “Cattle and Sheep Production” and “Horticulture”. Due to “Horticulture” included the lectures about vegetable production, “Vegetabale Production” programme was closed in 2010-2011 academic years. In 2010-2011 academic year, a new programme called as “Milk and Products Technology” was opened.

According to the decision 03.05.2012 dated by Council of Higher Education, the name of “Cattle and Sheep Production” was changed as “Dairy and Livestock” in 2012-2013 academic year. From 2012-2013 academic year, “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants” programme continues to give education. In 2016-2017 academic year, “Laboratory and Veterinary Health” programme was opened with decision of Council of Higher Education (YOK). The name of “Seed Production” was changed as “Seed Technology” according to decision of Council of Higher Education (YOK).

Now, our school continues to educational activities with seven programmes “Horticulture”, “Seed Techology”, “Milk and Products Technology”, “Dairy and Livestock” and “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants” in 100% Turkish language.
